England Golf South Eastern Group County Qualifying

Under perfect conditions the Club hosted the England Golf South Eastern Group County Qualifying on Saturday 14th July. The 11 Counties each sent a team of 6 players to battle through 36 holes of medal where all 6 players scores would count towards the final total, no where to hide! Teams from BB&O, Bedfordshire, Essex, Kent, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Norfolk, Surrey, Suffolk & Sussex were greeted by a course in perfect conditions, scoring during the morning was slightly higher than expected, the fast fairways catching a few players out. With a -7 team total BB&O were leading the way, 7 shots clear of the defending champions Hampshire. As the wind picked up throughout the day the course continued to test the best players in the region, however, BB&O stood fast with 5 of the 6 in the team returning sub par rounds, their eventual total of -10 saw them home with 12 shots to spare from Hampshire. 3rd place went to Kent on +8 and 4th were Essex on +11. David Langley put together an individual total of -9 with rounds of 70 & 65 to take the individual title adding to BB&O’s silverware from the day. The response from all of the players was very positive with the course being the real jewel in the crown.
