Water Conservation
One of the key areas to do this is by ensuring that every drop of water used at the club is used in the correct amounts needed to provide good quality playing surfaces with minimal wastage. This is being achieved in many ways with a few examples below.
- By using good quality soil surfactants that pull water molecules into the soil surface before it has time to evaporate or run off, giving the plant better chances of good water uptake.
- Undertaking good solid cultural practices, like deep spiking and changing grass species, which helps encourage deep roots and healthy, drought resistant plant systems.
- Using state of the art water control systems that can monitor amounts of water being applied through each individual sprinkler and reduce it if necessary.
- We use soil moisture monitoring equipment so that we can keep the optimum amount of moisture in the soil to give the plant chance to grow with minimal wastage.
- Our entire irrigation system has been upgraded and improved over the last 8 years so that wasted water through leaks and incorrect sprinkler sizes is kept to an absolute minimum.
